100 Young Leaders

Women Deliver supports young people from around the world to attend our conferences, where they have the opportunity to learn and network with experts from around the world. Through this program, we select the Women Deliver 100 Young Leaders – a group of amazing, inspiring young people under the age of 30 working to build a world where the health and well-being of girls and women is a priority.Throughout the year, we work in a variety of ways with our selected ‘young leaders’ to strengthen their skills as advocates, academics, program staff, media, and social innovators. When young people are equipped with the right tools and information, they are powerful and critical agents of change.

As a part of the global Women Deliver 2010 conference, Women Deliver selected 100 Young Leaders from a pool of 6,000 scholarship applicants and representing 59 different countries, with every region across the globe represented. For the 2013 conference, the 100 Young Leaders represented 68 different countries. They were chosen based on their previous knowledge, skills, and experience as an advocate or activist, and their potential to increase their advocacy efforts in their home communities and countries.

The 100 Young Leaders are awarded a full scholarship to attend the Women Deliver 2013 conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and they also have an opportunity to:

  • Participate in an e-course prior to the conference.
  • Engage in networking and advocacy online through the Women Deliver website.
  • Attend a two-day pre-conference workshop focused on advocacy around maternal health, with a specific highlight on communication and new technologies, sponsored by Johnson & Johnson and Global Fund for Women.
  • Serve as a source of information to other attendees seeking the youth perspective by staffing a “Youth Desk” at the conference.
  • Connect with a “Professional Ally” who could serve as a mentor before and during the 3-day conference.
  • Maintain a network with their fellow 100 Young Leaders and increase advocacy around maternal health in their projects, plans, and daily life at home.
