Regional Consultations (2012 - 2013)
Women Deliver held regional consultations in 2012-2013 in sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia, and the Middle East and North Arica. In 2015, Women Deliver will host consultations that look specifically at countries with a high number of maternal deaths. These meetings bring together country and regional experts, decision-makers, and advocates to identify solutions, success stories and ongoing challenges.
For each consultation, we disseminated video, materials and an outcome report. The discussions at each consultation helped shape the agenda for Women Deliver 2013 and were also delivered as key recommendations to the United Nations Secretary-General’s office.
Young people are critical stakeholders, and our consultations are designed to incorporate their input. A small group of 15-20 youth advocates took part in pre-consultation workshops at our sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America and the Caribbean consultations. Participants learned advocacy strategies, identified areas for cross-sectoral collaboration and networked through a series of interactive sessions. They also attended each consultation, to provide a youth perspective.
